With her 18th birthday and marriage to her dream teacher…uhmm man…just a day away, Nahmla (Thulisile Phongolo) got cold feet and decided to terminate her pregnancy on Generations the Legacy.

She didn’t do it lightly.

But knowing that both her and her former teacher’s futures would be dramatically altered made her rethink having a baby.

Namhla so much wanted to please everyone.  Her mother who wanted her to have an abortion, the baby’s father – Nathi Sokhulu (Batsile Ramasodi) and her grandmother who both wanted the baby to be born.

Eventually she decided to do what she thought was best for her.  She didn’t want her child to grow up the way she did.  She wanted an education and rise above her current circumstances and then have a family.

So after a visit with her counsellor, and with financial support for the abortion from Kyle she went to the clinic to terminate the pregnancy.

Kyle encouraged Namhla to get someone to come support her emotionally, so she called her mother.

And while Mr Sokhulu was getting ready for the court officiated marriage and for the baby’s arrival, Namhla was in hospital preparing for the abortion.

Afterwards she was emotional and also apprehensive.  She still had to tell the baby’s father as well as her grandma.

Nathi was devastated and threw Namhla out of his home.

And grandma, still in the dark on Namhla’s 18th birthday was so excited, she bought a car seat for Namhla’s new car – her birthday present.

But she still had to be told.

Her grandmother was even more devastated! She couldn’t believe what Namhla did.

Unfortunately there’s no right thing to do for Namhla.  Either way she’s the one who will have to live with her decision every day.
